If you and your dog want to go hiking together, there are a few great options in Juniper Springs Recreation Area. If you’d like to go for a stroll on a paved trail, the statewide Florida Trail runs through the campground. This trail is about 1,000 miles in total, and the portion near the Juniper Springs Campground takes you through the rugged and beautiful Juniper Prairie Wilderness and Farles Prairie. If you’re looking for a shorter stroll, check out the 0.8-mile Juniper Run Nature Trail. This unpaved trail takes you along lovely Juniper Springs and through a forest filled with pine and sweet gum trees.

Juniper Spring Recreation Area is also a great place for water lovers. The campground is located right next to the seven-mile Juniper Run, a lovely, peaceful creek. If you’d like to paddle down this creek, canoes and kayaks are available to rent at the campground. If you’d like to go swimming, hop in the natural pool in Juniper Springs' day use area. This pool is the perfect place to cool down after a day hiking, canoeing, or kayaking.

After you’ve finished your day’s adventures, you and your pup can relax and enjoy Juniper Springs' many amenities. Each campsite comes with its own campfire ring, picnic table, and charcoal grill. Firewood, food, and supplies are all available at the campground’s general store. You and your pup will both have a great time relaxing by the fire after your busy day out in the woods!
