Karick Lake South Campground

Located in Blackwater River State Forest, Karick Lake South is a furrific campground with plenty of great amenities for you and your dog! This campground sits on the 65-acre Karick Lake, and it has 15 scenic campsites. Pups are welcome to join you at this campground on-leash, and the nightly rates for this pawesome campground range from $13.39 to $14.15.

If you and your dog enjoy hiking together, hop on the 3.8-mile Karick Loop Trail. This trail goes through Karick Lake South Campground and takes you in a loop around Karick Lake. As you’re walking, you’ll get stunning views of the lake, and you’ll walk through a peaceful forest. This trail is also perfect for avid birdwatchers. The lake is home to a wide variety of wading birds and songbirds, including sandhill cranes, ducks, green herons, and yellow-throated warblers. You and your dog will both have a fun time walking on this scenic trail -- just keep a tight grip on that leash if your pup pal is the type to chase after feathered friends!

Karick Lake South Campground is also a pawsitively amazing choice for water lovers. If you’re bringing a boat, the campground has a boat ramp you can use to launch into Karick Lake. Many people also enjoy canoeing and kayaking in the lake, which is also regularly stocked with freshwater fish for anglers.

After you’ve finished your day’s adventures, you and your pup can relax at your campsite. Each campsite comes with a campfire ring you can use to create a cozy fire. If you and your dog get hungry, there are grills located throughout the campground, as well as plenty of scenic picnic tables where you can enjoy your meal.
