Make no bones about it, Kendall Campground is a pawesome place to pitch your tent on your Fido-friendly Lake Cumberland adventure! You won’t need to sacrifice too many mod-cons during your stay, either -- Kendall has almost all the amenities you and your buddy need to camp in comfort, including showers, electricity, water and sewer hookups, laundry facilities, and even satellite TV!
The location isn’t bad, either! Kendall sits just above scenic Wolf Creek, and many sites have waterside views. The campground is well-shaded by gorgeous, mature hardwoods, so there’s no need to worry about your pupper overheating in the hot summer sun!
With 115 sites and 70 acres, Kendall is the largest campground in the Lake Cumberland area, but it still pays to make your reservation early, paw-ticularly if you and your pooch are planning to stay on a weekend. The campground offers a couple of ways to stay -- as well as the standard sites, tent-only non-electric sites are available for those looking for a more rustic (or budget-friendly) experience. There’s no entrance fee to the area, and sites start at $15.
Keen anglers might well get the most out of a stay at Kendall! Not only is Lake Cumberland famed for its fishing, but the campground is also right next to a trout stream, and a record-breaking trout was once caught nearby. While you might not bring home a trophy fish, you can still clean your catch at the campground’s fish cleaning station, and cook it at one of the grills provided with each site.Â
While the half-mile Whispering Pines trail makes for a lovely, sedate stroll, the area doesn’t offer much to serious hound-dog hikers. Never mind, though -- the trails at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park are just a thirteen-minute drive away! None of the routes are particularly long, but the four-mile out-and-back Baugh Branch Trail has enough of an incline to satisfy fitter furry friends looking for a challenge. Non-furry family members might also appreciate the playground.
WiFi is available at Kendall, and all cellular networks should receive at least some coverage, making this an ideal option for those who need to stay in constant contact (or who just can’t wait to share those vacation selfies)! Drinking water is provided for you, so just bring the doggie waste bags and have a furrific trip at Kendall Campground!
