Lakeside Campground can be found right alongside Lake Texoma in Oklahoma. At the campground, you will find 137 campsites to choose from. Most campsites do come with water and electric hookups during the on-season. Both flush and vault toilets can be found at lakeside along with drinking water, a dump station, and showers for guests.
From boating to fishing, the lake has it all. Two boat ramps are available and two docks. The lake is an angler’s paradise and it’s known as the “Striper Capital of the World.” In the water, you can find all sorts of bass (largemouth, smallmouth, white), black and white crappie as well as channel and blue catfish. Hunting is also popular in the area and draws in campers.
The campground is pet-friendly, as long as your pup remains on-leash and is under your control. Dogs are free to walk the trails at the campground and explore the vicinity with their owners, but they are prohibited from using the designated swimming areas.Â
If you’re interested in taking your pooch on a hike, there are over 40 miles of trails for you to venture through. One example is the Cross Timbers hiking trail. It's a 14-mile long path that takes you through woodlands and along the rocky cliffs above the lake. Hikes are the perfect opportunity to catch a glimpse of the surrounding wildlife including turkey, hawks, bobcats, deer and various bird species.
During the off-season from October 1st until March 31st, the park remains open but is limited in its amenities. Campsites are reduced and are available on a first come first serve basis. Unfortunately, showers and bathrooms are not available and water hookups are done after October 31st. Guests are encouraged to use the frost-free hydrant found at the entrance of the park to fill water containers that can be used during their stay. With the amenities being limited, fees for camping during the offseason are discounted.
