Located on the northeast side of Sardis Lake, Potato Hills Central is a common camping area in the Clayton, Oklahoma area. It is an area rich in wildlife and is the perfect place for those who want to connect with nature. RV camping is available at the campgrounds, and there are electric hookups at all of the sites. The best part is that all of the campsites are shaded by blackjack oak, post oak, and pine trees.
There is a fishing dock that makes fishing a breeze - even without a boat. Kids love being able to cast off of the dock. There is also a playground nearby that will keep children who aren't interested in fishing busy.
Since Sardis Lake is a big spot for both fishing and water sports, it is easy to get a boat into the lake from the campgrounds.
Dogs are welcome in the campgrounds, but they are prohibited from being in the beach areas or in the water. Many people enjoy taking their dogs hiking through the 8,000 acres of undeveloped land nearby. Hiking trails are easy to access from the camping area, which makes this the perfect spot for campers who want to hike. Owners are responsible for picking up after their dogs.
Hunting isn't an option in this area, but hunters can go over to Potato Hills South to bag the animals that are in season. There are, however, equestrian sites where people can explore the region on horseback. Wildlife and bird watching are popular activities for guests. When you aren't on the lake, be on the lookout for deer and other cute critters in the woods.
If you arrive at Potato Hills Central and there are no campsites available, head over to Potato Hills South where there is additional camping space. Hunting and watersports are also popular over at Potato Hills South.
