Description

Central Oregon offers visitors access to picturesque views of the scenic outdoors -- which is exactly what you and your pooch will find at Lava Lake Campground situated within the Deschutes National Forest. Right on the shores of Lava Lake, nestled on the east slope of the Cascade Mountain Range, is where you'll discover this outdoor oasis.

Campers heading to Lava Lake should come prepared to truly "ruff" it as this campground has no hookups available. All 44 sites are non-electric, though water is available throughout the park. Sewage and dump stations are also "un-fur-tunately" not offered at Lava Lake. What you'll find, rather, are primitive campsites that come equipped with fire pits, picnic tables, and plenty of space for you and your pooch. Designated sites are marked for tents and vehicles such as pop-up trailers and RVs.

While visiting, do keep in mind that you're expected to keep your pooch on their leash at all times. You're also asked to tidy up after your pup and keep them under control (i.e. no aggressive behavior or excessive barking). Feel free to explore the campground together and take advantage of the easy lake access only feet from your campsite, as all sites are right on the lakeshore. Take your pooch for a swim or hang out by the water while you relax in paradise.

Lava Lake is 130 acres of pristine water awaiting your discovery. On the water, you'll likely see guests partaking in water sports as well as boating, fishing, swimming and more! For anglers, the lake is home to trout (rainbow and brook), tui chub, and whitefish, making it a delight to cast a line. Fishing is popular from either your boat or the northern shoreline.

A boat ramp is located right inside of the campground, so accessing the water is never an issue. Hit the calm waters with your pooch and spend an evening watching the sunset. Other activities for you and your pup to enjoy include taking a hike along one of the many trails close by, as there are 16,000 miles of forested trails within the Deschutes National Forest for the two of you to explore!

When it comes to camping, Lava Lake Campground has everything you need. Scenic views, unlimited lake access, and endless trails to venture through await you and your pooch at Lava Lake Campground.
