If you and your buddy are looking for a place to pitch your tent near Kentucky’s beautiful Carr Creek Lake, you’d be barking mad not to consider camping at Littcarr Campground! Littcarr offers almost all the creature comforts you and your buddy could ask for, including electricity, water hookups, showers, and a dump station.
Not only that, but Littcarr is in quite a pretty spot. The campground is nestled on the banks of Carr Creek, and the lake itself is just a bone’s throw away. Though the hills around Carr Lake are forested with gorgeous hardwoods, the campground is a little more developed. Mature trees are dotted around the well-maintained grassland, but not all sites are shaded, so plan accordingly! Littcarr offers a couple of ways to stay -- you can stick to the water/electric sites or pay a little extra for a spot with cable and sewer hookups. Littcarr is a pretty paw-pular place, so it pays to book early, particularly if you’re planning to stay at one of the 14 premium sites. There’s no entrance fee to the area, and sites start at $24.
You and your doggo are sure to dig up something to do on your trip! Keen anglers might be glad to know that the lake is well-stocked with bass, crappie, and trout, and you can cook your catch on one of the grills provided with each site. Hound-dog hikers might enjoy a walk on the nearby, eleven-mile Sugar Branch Trail. The route makes its way through wooded wonderland and features lovely views of the creek. There are some moderate inclines, though, so Sugar Branch may not be the best choice for older furry friends who can’t quite move like they used to. Back at camp, non-furry family members are sure to appreciate the playground, basketball and horseshoe courts, and swim beach (though your pup will need to stay on dry land).
WiFi isn’t available at Littcarr, but all cellular networks bar Verizon should receive at least some coverage. Drinking water is provided right on-site, so just bring the doggie doo bags for a furrific vacation at Littcarr Campground!
