Description

Up in the mountains of New Mexico lies the Manzano Mountains State Park. Though manzano actually means apple tree in Spanish, you'll find a lot more Ponderosa pines and Alligator Junipers in these hills. The wide-open skies of this area make for an excellent place to spot many magnificent birds of prey, so be sure to keep your eyes facing upwards!

The facilities at this state park include 23 campsites, some of which offer electric hookups. Pooches are welcome on all of the lots, and level grounds mean wheelchairs should face minimal difficulty traversing the camping area. Drinking water is provided via taps, and a dump station is available on-site. There is also a sheltered structure with benches in it for use of the campers. Nightly fees are $10 for single-family sites and $60 for group camping.

Once you're here, you can head out into the wilderness and partake in all sorts of activities. Fishing is popular in these woods, as is trying to spot some of the many birds and wildlife that call the mountains home. Be sure to bring your doggo on the 3.5 miles of trails and check out the education programs that Manzano Mountain State Park offers at various times in the year.

Canine campers are welcome at this facility as long as they stay on a leash no longer than 10 feet. The park asks that you prevent your pooch from barking excessively or harassing any other campers or woodland creatures. Please do not leave your woofer unattended at any point in your stay, and always properly clean up all waste they leave behind. If you abide by these rules, the two of you are sure to have an enjoyable time in the mountains.

For all that seek quiet campgrounds in beautiful wilderness, Manzano Mountain State Park has what you need!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
