Description

Tucked among the wooded slopes on the banks of Georgia’s gorgeous Etowah River, McKaskey Creek Campground is a paw-fect spot for your next Fido-friendly outdoor getaway! You might not need to give up too many of your mod-cons during your stay, either -- the campground has access to electricity, water hookups, showers, and laundry facilities, though sewer hookups aren’t available.

Not only that, but McKaskey Creek is in a seriously pretty spot! Perched on the side of the serene Allatoona Lake, the sites sit surrounded by tall oak and magnolia trees, with ferns and honeysuckle bordering the spots. The campground offers several ways to stay -- non-electric sites are available for those looking to "ruff" it (or to save a few bucks), and you can rent a waterside site for a little extra. There’s no entrance fee to the area, and sites start at $22.

You and your pooch certainly won’t be bored during your trip! The lake provides plenty of op-paw-tunities for keen anglers, and you can cook your catch on one of the grills provided with each site. Non-furry family members might appreciate the playground and beach access, though unfortunately, your pup will need to stay on dry land.

Hound-dog hikers can investigate the trails leading down from the Overlook, and if you’d like to explore a little fur-ther afield, Red Top Mountain State Park is just a bone’s throw away. All of this, just a 45-minute drive from Atlanta! If you’re missing civilization, though, you can always take the short drive into Cartersville and check out some of the town’s dog-friendly restaurants. Johnny’s Pizza serves up a mean slice, and not only do they welcome wagging tails at their outdoor patio, they’ll even put out water for your buddy on a hot day!

WiFi isn’t available at McKaskey Creek, and cellular coverage varies from network to network. Fires are permitted, and you’ll find drinking water available on-site. As long as you remember to bring doggie bags to clean up after Fido, you're guaranteed to have a furrific vacation at McKaskey Creek Campground!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
