McKinney Campground is located on Lake Allatoona in Acworth, Georgia, and features 150 campsites and all sorts of convenient amenities for campers. 139 of the campsites are standard electric, the other 11 are RV electric, and the premium campsites have water views. While many of the campsites remain open year-round, about half of them are closed from the beginning of December to the beginning of March. Up to two dogs are permitted to join their families for their camping trip, but McKinney Campground does not allow Dobermans, pit bulls, Rottweilers, or other breeds they deem dangerous.
Your spot at McKinney Campground comes with a picnic table, lantern holder, and a campfire ring. There are hot showers, a playground, coin-operated laundry, and drinking water available nearby. Sites have paved parking spurs, tent pads, and water hookups, and there's also a dump station on-site. The daily rate for camping at McKinney ranges from $28 to 32. There's a boat launch ramp right at the campground so you can get out an enjoy all that Lake Allatoona has to offer.
More than 7 million people come to visit Lake Allatoona each year, and it isn't hard to see why. There are more than 270 miles of shoreline, as well as picnic areas, hiking trails, hunting, swimming, and some of the best fishing in the state. Each year, the lake is stocked with bass, crappie, bream, gar, and catfish, and anglers come from all over to catch them. There's even a fishing dock at the campground! Atlanta, Georgia is just 30 miles away, and campers can also head to the nearby town of Cartersville, where they'll find science and art museums, parks, and hiking trails.
Each night, quiet hours are enforced from 10 PM to 6 AM to ensure campers get a good sleep. You're welcome to have up to four visitors at your campsite, and three vehicles per site are permitted.
