Just over an hour from Denver, you'll find a puptacular place to plan your large group campout. Reserve your spot at least four days in advance for Meadows Group Campground in the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area. This area has two sites that get lots of use during the open season. Each spot can house up to 150 people and has room for 25 vehicles. Camp in tents, RVs, or campers. There are no electrical hookups, and the park advises you to bring water with you for your stay.
You'll be camping in a clearing with some shade trees around the edges. There are pit toilets and a picnic area in each group site. Once you get your base set up, head out and explore the vicinity. Check out one of the many multi-use trails in the area. Head a little south of the campground to pick up the Green Mountain Trail. This 5.4-mile loop offers a gentle incline through the woods and a chance to see wildflowers and a variety of birds. Grab your pole and follow the Colorado Trail west to Buffalo Creek to try your luck fishing for brook trout. Water sports like boating and swimming are available near here at Wellington Lake. After a day of adventures, settle around the campfire to talk about the day and watch the stars come out.
As long as you keep Spot on a leash at all times, they can join you here. Wander the trails together, but remember to carry bags for scooping their poop. Don't leave any signs of your visit other than foot and paw prints!
When you're planning an outing for a pack of people, Meadows Group Campground offers easy access and plenty of recreational options. Enjoy the great outdoors together in this pawtastic facility. Store your food and other items securely in a bear-resistant container to avoid attracting unwelcome guests.Â
