Moose Creek Flat Campground

Nestled within the Gallatin National Forest in Montana is Moose Creek Flat Campground. Surrounded by acres of forest-covered mountains, this isolated campground gives you the "oppawtunity" to leave behind your busy city life and escape into peace and serenity.

Moose Creek is ideally located with recreational opportunities all around. The park is stationed at the bottom of a mountain, right beside the Gallatin River. You and Fido can go for a hike along one of the many nature trails within the area which vary in length and difficulty, such as Golden Trout Lakes Trail.

While exploring the trails, you can view both the abundant wildlife and foliage. Keep an eye out for bald eagles, moose, mountain goats, and elk, but beware of the coyotes and bears that frequent the canyon. Biking, fishing, and swimming are other activities you can delve into together. Kayaking and canoeing are available, with a boat dock not far from the campground.

If you bring your pooch along for your vacation, remember to keep them on a leash at all times. You're also asked to maintain control over their behavior, tidy up their messes, and never leave them unattended, even inside your own camper. This campground is dog-friendly and is excited to accept all canine visitors, as long as you abide by the set rules.

As this campground is secluded, the park amenities are somewhat limited. Pit toilets are offered, but showers are not -- lucky you're right beside the river, though! Drinking water is available to all guests as well as trash pick-up. Moose Creek has 13 campsites to choose from for tent and vehicle camping, such as RVs, pop-up trailers, and fifth wheels. Rates begin at $20 a night. All campsites are primitive but come equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Nothing completes a getaway in nature like roasting marshmallows by a calm evening fire under the starlit sky with your pup at your side.
