Description

A beautiful lake, rolling hills, heaps of fascinating native wildlife, and 5,286 acres to explore with your canine companion — sounds pretty good, right? Well, that's exactly what you can expect to find at Nockamixon State Park, a big and beautiful park in Pennsylvania's scenic Bucks County.

The centerpiece of Nockamixon is undoubtedly Lake Nockamixon. Covering 1,450 acres, the peaceful waters of this lake are not only a favorite haunt for migrating waterfowl but also boaters and anglers. Whether you enjoy windsurfing, fishing, or just cruising along, you'll find hours of enjoyment here.

There have been more than 250 different species of bird recorded in Nockamixon State Park, so it's also a popular spot for anyone who wants to enjoy a spot of bird watching. Other facilities include disc golf, well-shaded picnic areas, a 2.8-mile paved bicycle trail and some 14 miles of equestrian trails. There are also several hiking trails available if you and your dog want to explore forests, fields and the beautiful shores of the lake.

And there's plenty to enjoy during the winter months as well, including ice fishing, ice skating, cross-country skiing and sledding.

There are two types of accommodation in Nockamixon State Park: modern cabins and the Weisel Hostel. The cabins are located on the south side of the lake and are available for rent year round, with cabins #1, #2, #3 and #6 all welcoming dogs. Your pet will need to be leashed and under your control at all times, while you'll also need to take care to always clean up after your furry friend.

Of course, you don't have to stay the night to experience the best this grrr-eat park has to offer, so pop in for a day visit and give your dog the chance to sniff out an adventure. They'll love the opportunity to explore the great outdoors, and you'll love spending some quality time with your pooch in this wonderful state park.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
