Description

No matter which way you look at it, Pymatuning State Park is pretty darn big. Covering well over 20,000 acres across Pennsylvania and Ohio, this massive park is one of the largest in the Commonwealth. Not only does it offer a heap of experiences and attractions to enjoy, but your pet is also welcome to join you during your visit.

Open all year round, the park sits on the shores of the 17,088-acre Pymatuning Reservoir. As you'd expect, this means there are plenty of great opportunities for boating, fishing (for walleye and muskellunge), swimming and a host of other aquatic activities. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission also runs a fish hatchery and visitor center, while the Pennsylvania Game Commission offers its own wildlife viewing areas.

Picnic tables and fireplaces can be found throughout the park, so you and your canine companion shouldn't have any trouble finding a sunny or shaded spot to enjoy a relaxing lunch. Other park facilities include hiking trails, a volleyball court, basketball court, boat rental, and camp store.

The fun doesn't stop in winter either, with ice fishing, ice skating, and ice boating all popular pastimes. Sledding, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling are all also possible in the park during the colder months.

Pymatuning State Park boasts everything from electric and non-electric campsites to full-hookup sites and even a range of modern cabins. Pets are permitted on many campsites, while some cabins also welcome your furry friend — read the fine print closely to find out exactly where your dog is welcome.

You'll need to make sure that your pet is kept on a leash at all times and that you take special care to clean up after your dog. With that taken care of, all that's left to do is to go and explore this beautiful nature preserve with your furry best friend.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
