Being located just moments away from the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge in the state of Georgia is only one of the reasons for you to check out Okefenokee Pastimes Cabins & Campground. Within the refuge is over 438,000 acres of wetland as well as the Okefenokee Swamp, which houses a diversity of wildlife.
Okefenokee Pastimes Cabins & Campground can accommodate RV campers, tent campers, and individuals looking to stay in a cabin for a more modern experience. At this campground, there are 16 pull-through sites for RV's and pop-up trailers. Most sites come with water, electric, and sewage hookups. Campsites are secluded and sectioned off from the rest of the grounds. They're close to the shower stations, and all sites come with picnic tables and fire rings.
Amenities found at the campground include a large play area with playground equipment for the kids to use. There is also stargazing on Fridays and Saturdays as there is minimal light pollution at this campground. There is also a store to restock on goods, a fishing pond, and an entertainment area where you can find electronics. Not to mention there are a variety of sports activities, hiking trails, and boat rentals to keep you busy.
The campground is dog-friendly and welcomes all pooches with open paws. Unfortunately, if you don't abide by the regulations, you will be asked to leave the campground. While walking through the grounds, remember to keep your pooch on a leash at all times that is no longer than six feet. You're also asked to tidy up any waste your pet makes, and use the garbage receptacles to dispose of it. Dogs are permitted in all cabins except Cabin C, on tent sites, and in RVs. Cabin and tent sites only permit one dog per family.
Located right within the campground is a Day Use Dog Kennel for you to take advantage of. If, for example, you would like to visit the swamp, where pets are not permitted, you can drop your pooch at the kennel, where they will receive some TLC while you explore the great outdoors. There's also a large exercise area where you will find chairs, tables and an umbrella for shade, while your pooch enjoys socializing off-leash with the other dog visitors.
