While located inland of the Atlantic Ocean, Florida's Ortona South campground still enjoys waterfront views, with several bodies of water located both in and around the area. Overnight guests of Ortona South will enjoy the regularly spotted manatees that populate the Ortana Lock that runs along the campground's eastern edge, as well as the regularly seen sailboats.
Ortona South has 51 available sites starting at $30 per night, all of which come with plumbing and electrical hookups. For guests with popup campers or RVs, there's also a centrally located dump station. All of these sites are adjacent to shower facilities and flush toilets for convenience, as well as coin-operated laundry services. Group shelters are also available for rent at a rate of $35 per night. While hiking isn't available here per se, there are several paved walking areas that are open to canine guests as well as foot traffic and cyclists. If you take your dog for a walk here, just remember to clean up any messes they might make, while also keeping them on a leash no longer than 6 feet in length.
Several fishing piers are available to campers, from which they can catch one of the many species that populate the Caloosahatchee River that runs through Ortona South. Species seen here include bluegill, crappie, and largemouth bass, among others. If you're a guest looking to do some fishing, make sure you pack up everything you'll need before casting your line, as no sales or rental services exist here. Anglers will also need a valid California state fishing license. If you've got your canine along for your fishing trip, make sure they're on a leash and not bothering other guests.
Potential visitors should remember that any prices outlined here pertain to the Ortona South campgrounds only. Parks, forests, and other recreational opportunities found outside of Orona South campground may require additional fees.
