Camping facilities here include 104 campsites, 67 of which welcome our barky buddies to stay, too. Each lot comes with a picnic table, a grill, and complete hookup options. At this state park, it is important for everyone to be able to enjoy Florida's beauty, which is why 7 campsites come fully wheelchair-accessible with concrete pads, making for easy travel around the lots. Group camping is also available here at a site with its own composting toilets, but no hookup options.
To enter Oscar Scherer State Park, you need to grab a ParkPass permit, costing $5 per vehicle. Camping rates start at $15 per night for small, tent-only sites and jump up to $26 for lots large enough to host RVs and trailers.
With two separate lakes and a brackish creek, you're likely going to spend quite a bit of time by the water during your stay. Kayak and canoe rentals are provided on-site, making it easy paddle your way through the beautiful wetlands -- keep your eyes peeled to spot adorable otters splashing around! In the park, you can try your luck at catching both fresh and saltwater fish, as the lakes are filled with bass and catfish, while the creek contains all manner of fish swimming up from the Gulf of Mexico. If you're a hiker, 15 miles of trail await you and your pupper, so strap on those shoes, grab some water, and get going!
During your adventures on the grounds, remember to keep your fur-baby leashed at all times. The large, toothy reptiles that call this area home can be quite dangerous for our canine companions, so be sure to avoid areas where gators may be hiding. Also, be a good pet parent and promptly pick up and dispose of your doggo's bathroom breaks to help keep Florida state parks pup-friendly.
For the ultimate getaway without leaving the sprawl, head to Oscar Scherer State Park for your next camping trip!
