Owens Creek Campground is situated in northern Maryland, and it's one of the top camping destinations in the entire state. The campground is located in Catoctin Mountain Park, a favorite location of outdoor enthusiasts from all over the country. Owens Creek Campground welcomes furry paws, so you and your canine companion can explore this amazing setting together and have an unforgettable camping trip!
The campground has 50 furrific sites that can accommodate up to five campers each. The sites have a nightly fee of $30, and each one has a tent pad, lantern pole, picnic table, and fire ring with grill. Other amenities that can be found at the campground include an amphitheater, a quiet area, and drinking water.
There are lots of dog-friendly trails you can explore around Owen Creek Campground, so you’re sure to find one that suits you and your woofer’s hiking preferences. Owen’s Creek Campground Loop Trail is right outside of camp, and it's a perfect spot for a short stroll. This easy-difficulty loop spans 5.7 miles, and the tranquil forest of maple and oak trees provides a pleasant backdrop for your hike. For a slightly more challenging hike, you can head over to Mount Zion Church to check out the Catoctin Shelters Trail. This out-and-back trail runs for just over two miles. Catoctin Mountain Park Campground also has a 5.3-mile trail you and your pooch can sniff and explore. All of the trails require furry friends to stay on-leash.
While you’re camping at Owens Creek Campground, remember to clean up after your pooch. Also, please note that your dog should remain on-leash at all times. The park prohibits all alcoholic beverages unless you have a permit from the superintendent. The campground can accommodate RVs as long as they are under 22 feet. However, there are no hookups available, so you should plan accordingly.
