If you have your eyes set on experiencing Lake Okeechobee in Florida this year, you might want to consider mooring at the town of Pahokee, where a quaint, clean facility awaits all visitors to the area. Relax right at the shoreline and take in all the beauties of this area with your sea-worthy canine at your side.
There are 125 campsites available at this town-owned marina, and most of them offer full hookup options. Picnic tables are provided at each lot, but it is not clear whether campfires are permitted anywhere at the premises. You will have access to a dump station, however, and an overflow section for tenters. Nightly rates are $30 for your campsite along with a $1 per foot fee for permits to have your boat stay in the marina. The maximum dimensions for watercraft are 70 feet.
You won't have to "ruff" it while you're at the Pahokee Campground and Marina. There is a lovely pool on-site for all patrons of the facility, and wifi is available throughout the grounds. Be sure to bring your pole along to cast off the dock and try your luck at catching some dinner. If you prove unlucky, you don't have to worry! Many restaurants are within walking distance of the marina. This campground is also just a few hours away from some of Orlando's biggest tourist draws -- for any that are up for taking day trips on their vacation.
Doggos are welcome to stay with you at the campgroundĀ but remember that this is town property, so be diligent about cleaning up your furry friend's waste. Also, please be sure to keep them leashed at all times and abide by any posted signs that prohibit dogs in certain areas.Ā
If you're thinking of cruising around Lake Okeechobee, consider making Pahokee Campground and Marina one of your stopovers.
