Description

Atlanta is just 15 minutes away from one of the most beautiful areas of Georgia. Panola Mountain State Conservation Park is the perfect place for those who love to camp and fish. Park visitors love being able to camp. Primitive camping spots are available in the park. There are restrooms in the park, but no shower areas.

There are miles of paved trails throughout the park. With over 36 miles of hiking trails, this is a great place for guests to explore the wilderness while getting in some exercise. Many guests enjoy walking through these trails to see the granite outcrop called Panola Mountain. Rare plants and animals can also be spotted throughout the area. Ranger-led hikes are a great way to catch a glimpse of these unique species.

Visitors to the park can enjoy time at the lake or river that border the camping site. Fishing is extremely popular in the area. Bouldering is also common in the area, but permits are required for this activity. Picnics are common in the area, and many guests like to fish and then grill their catch for their meal. Archery is another activity that many guests enjoy. It is important that all archery is practiced in a safe manner to prevent injuries to other park guests. A playground is also nearby to keep kids entertained on their camping trip.

Dogs are allowed at the primitive camping site in Panola Mountain State Conservation Park, but they may not be allowed on all of the trails. Be sure that you only take your dog on walks on the trails that allow pets. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Additionally, pets should be kept on leashes that are no longer than six feet. Dogs should never be left unattended in the park or in the camping area.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
