Take your woofer on an adventure through the ponderosa pines of the San Juan National Forest when you stay at Pine Point Campground in Colorado. You'll feel like you're living in a postcard as you sit near the clear waters of Vallecito Reservoir and look out towards the towering points of the San Juan Mountains.
Pine Point is nestled right up against the reservoir, making the campsites into beautiful little retreats away from the busyness of urban life. Each of the 30 lots comes with a sturdy picnic table and a fire ring, but no hookup options are offered. The sites are spacious enough for larger rigs and drinking water is accessible on-site. While the forest management asks that you do not bring in firewood from outside of the park, you are allowed to gather wood from downed trees on the forest floor.
Rates to stay in the campground start at $19 per night for a basic campsite. Half of the sites are reservable ahead of time, while the other half are first-come, first-served.Â
We're sure you and your furry friend will love getting a closer look at the incredible scenery around Pine Point, and there's no better place to do so than on the North Canyon Trail! The trail offers amazing views of the reservoir via a trail offshoot. Down at the water, you can go for a refreshing swim, paddle around on a canoe, or hop into something a little faster and try out water skiing or wakeboarding. Motorized boats are allowed here, although you'll have to moor them south of the campground.Â
The San Juan National Forest says canine visitors don't have to be on-leash if they're obedient under voice command, but we recommend bringing along a lead just in case your barky buddy isn't keen on staying at your site. Keep this wonderful little camping area the gem it is by always cleaning up your doggo's bathroom breaks and disposing of them in the trash receptacles provided.Â
For a gorgeous getaway into the forests of Colorado, definitely add Pine Point Campground to your must-visit list!
