Description

If you love going fishing, boating, and enjoying a range of other aquatic activities when you go camping, Richard B. Russell State Park might just be the perfect destination for you. Situated on the shores of a 26,650-acre lake, this magnificent park offers a whole stack of recreational activities to enjoy. Best of all, your dog is more than welcome to camp right by your side.

Located in Elbert County, Georgia, this 2,508-acre state park sits on the shores of Russell Lake. As a result, it provides easy access to some of the best fishing and boating anywhere in the state. You can rent a kayak, canoe, or pontoon boat to help you get out on the water, or just cool off in the cool waters using the designated swimming beach.

The campground and picnic areas of Richard B. Russell State Park are located right near the water's edge, providing a peaceful backdrop and some lovely views. A nature trail also winds along the shores of the lake and leads you to one of the oldest steel pin bridges in the area.

The park is even home to a disc golf course, which offers easy-to-learn fun for campers of all ages. There's also a proper 18-hole golf course within the park's grounds, so don't forget to pack your clubs if you're planning on visiting.

There are 28 tent, trailer, and RV campsites on offer, with pets welcome on all sites. 20 cottages are also available for rent, and a select few of them are pet-friendly.

When visiting Richard B. Russell State Park with your dog, it's essential that you adhere to all the pet-related rules and regulations. This means you'll need to keep your pet on a leash of no longer than six feet, keep them out of swimming areas, and other spots where they're not allowed, and remember to always clean up after your furry friend.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
