Rockhaven Park Equestrian Campground

Searching for the pawfect place for a wilderness adventure filled with scenic hikes and wildlife watching with your four-legged buddy by your side? Look no further; the Rockhaven Park Equestrian Campground is just that -- a pet-friendly haven open to those that are accompanied by dogs, horses, and mules. It is also the only equestrian campground near Clinton Lake in Lawrence, Texas. So whether you simply stumble upon this hidden gem on route to somewhere else or have Rockhaven set as your destination, you and your fluffy friend will have a pawsome time here!

The secluded campground offers 48 grassy campsites for tent, trailer, and RV camping -- big rigs of up to 70 feet are welcome here! The primitive sites are surrounded by thick greenery and overlook the crystal-clear Clinton Lake that is bound by trees and cliffs. There are 18 sites that have electric hookups available. Although this is primarily an equestrian campground, a third of the sites are open to horse-less campers. Sites are $16 per night and come with fire rings. 

For those who have yet to fall in love with Rockhaven Park, the day-use area provides a great way to explore the space on horse, and you can also hike the South Shore trails without committing to an overnight stay. Unlike some other trails, South Shore is open to both two- and four-legged fitness enthusiasts; just make sure you clean up after your fur-ball both within the campground and on the trail. Not only will this help keep the beautiful, nature-filled oasis clean but it will also minimize the risk of attracting wildlife. Since there are over 80 miles of interconnected trails, it takes a group effort to keep popular trails poop-free and safe. Blue trails will make you break a sweat since they are rocky with steep inclines, while yellow and orange cater to those that prefer moderate to easy hiking levels. 

The hiking trails aren’t the only places where the four-legged visitors will feel welcome. The cozy campground features countless corrals and hitching posts, as well as water spigots scattered throughout the grounds to help keep dogs and horses hydrated and happy. Picnic tables will keep visitors comfortable, and the horseshoes will make sure they remain entertained throughout their stay. The campground features shower houses and modern restrooms with flushing toilets, so you won’t have to sacrifice hygiene while camping! What more can you ask for?
