Sand Pond Campground is a public, 20-site campground situated by the Sand Pond in the Pine Log State Forest in Ebro, Florida. The quiet, cozy campground is nestled away among tall cypress trees and overlooks a picturesque pond. Since it is dog-friendly, it is the perfect place for a relaxing weekend away from the city noise with your canine companion. From fishing, boating and swimming to picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing, this nature-based campground has the prime location for it all. Other nearby must-sees include the Shipwreck Island, the Ebro Greyhound Park, Zoo World, and Panama City.Â
The Sand Pond Campground offers tent and RV sites, most of which are situated at the pond’s waterfront. However, there are five sites that are further down the road and do not offer shoreline views. Each campsite has electricity and potable water and comes equipped with a grill, a fire ring, a bench, and a picnic table. Most of the sites are well-shaded, well spaced out, and spacious. However, since there is not much greenery separating them, there is not much privacy. Restrooms and hot showers are available at the campground, too. In addition to the above, there is a dump station, a pavilion and a fishing pier. A boat ramp and a canoe rental facility is within ten miles of the campground. There are two easily-accessible hiking trail loops close by, both of which are well marked and total up to ten miles.Â
Although the campground is pet-friendly, canines must remain leashed at all times during their stay. Please pack enough dog waste bags to last you the whole trip and clean up after your four-legged buddy. Since the surrounding area is grassy and there is water nearby, make sure to check your pooch for ticks and bring along some bug repellant for yourself to prevent mosquito bites. The campground is mostly quiet, some traffic may be heard from a few of the sites during the day, and there are frogs at the pond that get loud in the evenings, but for most patrons, it is not an issue and simply adds to the outdoor environment.Â
Fees start at $13.64 for tent or RV sites and $18.69 for pavilions. There is a short dirt road that leads to the campground, so make sure your vehicle can handle a few potholes.
