Sawnee Campground is a wonderful destination where you can enjoy a top-notch Georgia camping trip. It overlooks lake Sidney Lanier to the south, a massive body of water that has 38,000 surface acres and over 100 small islands. The forest around the campground and the Blue Ridge Mountains nearby complete the picture, altogether creating a beautiful and mesmerizing setting. The campground itself has well-maintained facilities that ensure you have everything you need for an unforgettable experience. And you can bring your dog along too!
Sawnee Campground has different types of campsites you can choose from. There are 43 campsites that have hookups for water and electricity. There are also 5 tent walk-in sites that also have both hookups, and 11 walk-in sites with no hookups. The regular sites are $24 per night; the tent sites with hookups are $20; and the nonelectric sites are $18. For larger groups, double sites are available for $32. All sites have an additional fee of $10 on weekends.
Throughout your stay at Sawnee Campground, you'll be able to enjoy its great amenities. The sites have picnic tables, fire rings with grills, and tent pads. On the premises, you can also access drinking water, showers, a playground, a boat ramp, and a dump station.
Many great outdoor recreation sites can be found around the campground. If you head to Lake Lanier, you can enjoy boating, fishing, or swimming. You can also check out some of the spectacular trails available in the area around the Blue Ridge Mountains. These trails are great locations for hiking or wildlife watching.
Please double-check the campground’s opening and closing dates — while the campground was previously open year-round, it has discontinued its winter operations. Also, remember to keep your dog leashed at all times, and make sure you always clean up after your dog. Alcohol is prohibited at Sawnee Campground.
