Description

If you're searching for a peaceful place where you can get away from the rest of the world and immerse yourself in nature, Shades State Park is the perfect spot. Best of all, your dog is more than welcome to join you in this beautiful, scenic park.

Located approximately 17 miles southwest of Crawfordsville, Indiana, Shades State Park offers a tranquil haven for hikers, canoeists and nature lovers. Sugar Creek runs through the park and is surrounded by spectacular sandstone cliffs. The creek is far too dangerous for swimming, but a popular waterway for paddlers to explore.

Several shady ravines dominate the landscape throughout the rest of Shades State Park, offering plenty of opportunities for nature watching. Several hiking trails wind their way through the park and while none of them are particularly long, several take you across rugged terrain and may not be passable during periods of high water.

Picnic areas with shelters are also available in the park, while anglers are also drawn from far and wide to try their luck in the waters of Sugar Creek.

If you want to stay the night, Shades State Park is home to 105 non-electric sites and a small selection of backpack and canoe camp sites. Please note that the campground is only open from April to October, and is closed for the rest of the year. However, Shades State Park is available for day use all year round.

Your pet is also more than welcome to join you during yor stay, provided that you abide by a few simple rules and regulations. You'll need to keep your dog on a leash of six feet or less, and clean up after your furry friend whenever required.

Shades State Park offers a quiet and secluded spot where you can experience the great outdoors with your dog by your side. Make sure you check it out if you ever get the chance.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
