Description

Shangri-La Trailhead and Campground is a public campground and Trailhead located on the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway in Ocala, Florida. The primitive campground has 24 RV sites available, all of which are pull-through. There are no tent sites or electricity hookups available at the campground. The cozy campground is open to everyone, but it is aimed at those traveling with horses as all 24 sites are large and equestrian-friendly. They offer plenty of space for horse trailers and are equipped with water and hitching posts at each site. There are countless hiking, biking, and horseriding trails nearby, which is one of the reasons this campground is so popular.

The pet-friendly campground is surrounded by large oak trees, pines, and mixed hardwoods that tower over most sites and provide plenty of shade for visitors to cool off in during the summer. Although there are no electric connections, patrons are allowed to use generators during the day. Although it is a dog-friendly campground, pets must remain leashed at all times and cleaned up after. Pick up after your pooch and use the designated trash receptacles for waste.

The campground is equipped with communal water, picnic tables, and an office. There are also two covered pavilions, a dump station, two horse wash racks, clean restrooms with flushing toilets, and well-maintained showering facilities with hot water. The campground’s great location enables patrons easy access to nearby attractions, which include the Rainbow and Silver Springs and various hiking and horseback riding trails. Plus, there are grocery stores and restaurants just a few miles away from the campground.

Lastly, the campground’s hosts are always on-site and are said to be very accommodating and informative, always looking after the camp’s patrons’ needs and making sure that everyone is having a great time. Sites start at $18 per night, and there are no day-use fees.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
