Situated inside of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Tennessee is Smoky Bear Campground and RV Park. Grab your pooch and head to Smoky Bear where you'll be greeted with both amenities and activities that are sure to make your experience "pawsitive"!
Dogs are permitted at Smoky Bear, but with restrictions. For starters, dogs are not allowed to accompany tent campers. Only those staying in an RV or other camping vehicles, as well as cabins, can bring their pooch along. With RVs, there are limited restrictions, aside from non-aggressive pups, so be sure to keep your pooch under control at all times. All dog owners, of course, must tidy up after their pooch. Dogs are required to remain on a leash no longer than six feet anytime they're off your campsite.Â
Fur-tunately, cabins are available for those who aren't interested in "ruffing" it! If you plan to rent a cabin, only dogs that are 15 pounds or less and non-shedding can accompany you. There's also a $10 per day pet fee for cabins to cover the costs of cleaning and maintenance.
At Smoky Bear Campground, there's a variety of accommodations to meet the needs of all campers. Primitive tent sites begin at $22. Full hookup sites are offered for RVs and other camping vehicles that include wifi and cable. Both 30 and 50 amp sites are available as well as pull-through and back-in sites. All sites are shaded, spacious and come with picnic tables and fire rings.
In terms of amenities, there’s both a pool for swimming and a hot tub for relaxing. If you decide to visit the pool area, find an alternative for Fido because this is one area they're not permitted. You can also check out the campground store for last-minute or forgotten necessities or borrow a book and movie from the lending library.
As you're located in the Smoky Mountain National Park, you and your pup can also venture down one of a couple nature trails. Be aware that doggos aren't allowed on many of the trails in the park, so it's a good idea to look up a map before you go! Depending on the trail you take, you may stumble across hidden waterfalls while you discover wildflowers and spot animals. Be sure to keep your pooch on a leash at all times.Â
If you're interested in trading your busy city life for a calming outdoor vacation with your pooch, Smoky Bear Campground and RV Park has exactly what you need.Â
