Description

The state of Utah is home to many stunning state parks, but Snow Canyon State Park would have to be one of the best. Located near St. George in Utah's southwest, this remarkably scenic 7,400-acre park really does have to be seen to be believed.

Nestled among lava flows and immense sandstone cliffs, the park is famed for its colorful, harsh, and fragile desert landscape. However, despite its name, winters in this part of the world are actually quite mild, and Snow Canyon rarely receives any snow.

With access to more than 38 miles of hiking trails, a three-mile paved trail for walkers and bike riders, and over 15 miles of equestrian trails, there's no excuse not to get out and see this amazing environment up close. From nature lovers and wildlife watchers to keen amateur photographers, the unique scenery and landscape of Snow Canyon State Park offer something for everyone.

Receiving only 7.5 inches of rain a year, the park is home to a diverse range of rare plant species. It also features a stunning assortment of animals, from kit fixes and leopard lizards to roadrunners and gopher snakes.

The Snow Canyon State Park campground is set against a dramatic backdrop of towering and vibrantly colored sandstone cliffs, not to mention patches of jumbled black lava rock. The campground features 14 RV sites with water and electrical hook-ups and 17 multi-use campsites, and pets are welcome to join you for your stay.

However, please note that if you're visiting Snow Canyon State Park with your dog, your furry friend will only be allowed in the following areas: the campground, on West Canyon Road, Whiptail Trail, and Paradise Canyon. Pets must be leashed at all times, and you'll also need to make sure to clean up after your pooch whenever necessary.

If you can follow these simple rules, you and your pooch will have a pawesome camping vacation in this remarkable state park.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
