Description

Snowbank Campground is part of the expansive Custer Gallatin National Forest. It's a well-known spot for stargazing, as well as being quite popular with foragers and fly fishers. Canines are welcome but not particularly catered to in Snowbank, so pet owners should always pack essentials like a leash and waste bags.

Eleven sites populate the campground, one of which is much larger and only offered to groups. The remaining ten of these sites are for single families or individuals and are primitive areas. Due to this notable lack of amenities, it's wise to visit Snowbank only when prepared for a more traditional camping experience. The size of parking spurs maxes out at 25 feet by 35 feet, so bear this in mind if you're planning to camp in a recreational vehicle.

Mushroom and berry picking are favorite activities here when they're in bloom. As these are wild growths, make sure to keep any visiting canines away from the picking areas. Canine campers also need to be on a leash around 6 feet in length at all times. Be sure to keep Fido from poking their nose into the restroom facilities as well.

This pristine part of the Montana wilderness is also pretty famous for its clear views of the night sky. If you've got a portable telescope that's been collecting dust, a few nights at Snowbank is the ideal excuse to dig it out and gaze at some celestial bodies!

Hiking and cycling can both be enjoyed on the trails that surround Snowbank, so be sure to pack gear for whichever sport you're looking to enjoy. Canines are quite welcome on the bulk of these trails as long as guests pick up any messes that Fido leaves behind as they explore. Just like the campgrounds, foraging is popular on a lot of these trails, so make sure you know what your dog is munching on if you're hiking in these areas.

Pricing for the group campground is on a sliding scale based on the number of guests. For up-to-date information, make sure to visit the official Snowbank campground website. Also, bear in mind that any recreational offerings surrounding the campground may incur additional fees not reflected on this page. Camping fees may increase upon arrival if guests exceed the number listed on their reservation.
