Spruce Grove Campground

Camp in the mountains at Spruce Grove Campground, located about 14 miles northwest of Lake George. This pawesome facility provides access to a range of outdoor activities including fishing, biking, hiking, and rock climbing. There are sites for tents and RVs up to 35 feet long. Amenities include fire rings, picnic tables, potable water, and pit toilets. You'll need to make reservations at least four days in advance when you come here. There's a minimum stay of two days on weekends. Hookups are not provided.

The facility is in a clearing beside Tarryall Creek. There's not much shade around the campsites, but aspen, spruce, and magnificent boulders surround the area. Set up camp and take a short walk to the water. Cast your spinner in the stream to fish for brown and rainbow trout. Take the footbridge over the creek to hike the Lizard Rock Trail. This challenging 12.5-mile loop heads into Lost Creek Wilderness. You'll enjoy seeing high mountain peaks rising above the trees. There are some stunning rock formations out here, including one that looks like a lizard. Stay alert for bighorn sheep, elk, and other wildlife during your travels. Remember to fill out a permit at the trailhead if you plan on going into the wilderness area. Settle around the fire at night and gaze at the stars above. Keep your flames in the designated rings.

This campground is open to your furry pal. Dogs can join you in camp and on the trails as long as they're on a leash and you don't leave them unattended. Keep bags with you and immediately remove their droppings.

Spruce Creek Campground is a furrific place to camp with your special friend. Sleep in the shadow of some rock outcroppings by a burbling stream. Enjoy the view of high mountain peaks rising above the trees and boulders. Black bears live out here, so follow safe food handling and storage practices.
