Description

If you love indulging in a wide variety of water sports, or if you just want to escape the city and get back to nature, Steinaker State Park is well worth visiting. This popular park sits at an elevation of 5,500 feet and is found in Vernal, in northeastern Utah. Not only does it provide easy access to a host of recreational activities, it's also a pet-friendly camping destination.

The centerpiece of the park is Steinaker Reservoir, which covers some 825 surface acres and is perfect for water activities. Canoeing, kayaking, and boating are all hugely popular pastimes on the lake's clear waters, while keen anglers are also thrilled at the chance to catch bluegill, rainbow trout, and largemouth bass.

Birdwatchers are also drawn to the park from far and wide by the prospect of catching a glimpse of golden and bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, and a huge variety of water birds. There's plenty of other wildlife to see, including elk, mule deer, and porcupines, as well as rare sightings of moose, black bears, and even mountain lions.

The 31-site campground offers camping for tents and RVs. Some sites have electricity and sewer hookups, but all feature a picnic table, grill, and fire pit.

Your dog is welcome to join you during your stay, but you'll need to make sure that you abide by all of the park's pet rules and regulations. These include cleaning up after your furry friend whenever the need arisesĀ and keeping your pet on a leash of six feet or shorter at all times. Also, be aware that pets are not permitted on developed beaches.

Steinaker State Park offers plenty to entertain campers of all ages and their canine companions. If you're planning a pet-friendly camping getaway in Utah, make sure you add this beautiful park to your list of must-visit destinations.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
