Description

Are you and your doggo searching for destinations with wide-open views that make you feel like you're living in a postcard? Sugarite Canyon State Park is nestled between large mountains with a lake sitting at the bottom of the canyon. The area has forests, open spaces, and plenty of scenic views for visitors to take in.

If you're looking to camp at this park, you'll get to choose between two camping loops: Soda Pocket, which is located higher up in the hills, and Lake Alice, which is situated near the lake, as the name suggests. For those that like to "glamp" with their pooch, Lake Alice offers 3 full-hookup sites and 9 others that provide water and electric. A dump station is accessible on-site, as is firewood for purchase. Each site has its own campfire ring and picnic table, and drinking water is available at the park. Rates for all lots are $10 per night.

While you're here, you'll no doubt want to get out and explore the incredible terrain that surrounds you. No matter what time of year you visit, you can hit the trails for hiking, mountain biking, or snowshoeing if the snow is already falling. If the weather is warm, head down to the water for some canoeing, kayaking, or sailing out on the waves. Fishing is also allowed here, so don't forget your tackle box!

Canine campers are welcome in this park, as long as they stay on a leash 10 feet or shorter. Park management also asks that all owners clean up after their four-legged buddies to keep the facility clean and welcoming. Also, be sure to have your woofer with you throughout your stay instead of back at the campsite on their own -- with wildlife roaming around, it's better to be safe than sorry!

For a mountain adventure like no other, be sure to add Sugarite Canyon to your camping wishlist!
