Susan Creek Campground

The Susan Creek Campground is a rare gem offering you the opportunity to surround yourself with untouched nature while still providing the conveniences typically found at urban campgrounds. It is surrounded with dense mixed-conifer forests on one side and the North Umpqua River on the other. Located 30 miles east from Roseburg, Oregon, this campground is highly recommended by its frequent visitors thanks to its nature-filled setting and pristine amenities.

Out of the 29 sites, 13 can be reserved in advance, while 16 operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Whenever possible, reserve yours beforehand, because this place is very popular, especially in the summer months. You can set up your tent, or bring your RV or a small trailer, but keep in mind that campsites are not equipped with hookups. Considering the campground’s remote location and beautiful setting, you will be pleased to know that there are bathrooms with clean hot showers and flushing toilets. 

While there is no WiFi or electric hookups, there are horseshoe pits and an amphitheater with educational shows during summer weekends. You will have countless opportunities to relax by the river, organize a picnic in the woods with your family and friends, or hike one of the numerous hiking trails. If you are feeling adventurous, kayaking down the North Umpqua River might be the perfect way to spend your time here. Alternatively, you and your four-pawed fitness pal can break a sweat on the 79-mile long North Umpqua Trail that passes by the campground. If you prefer casual hiking, take the leisurely Susan Creek Falls trail that ends at a beautiful waterfall. 

The sites start at $20 per night, and your fur-balls are welcome to stay with you as long as they remain leashed and cleaned up after. If you are looking for some peace and quiet, you will be thrilled to know that the hosts reinforce the quiet hours.
