Description

Whether you love aquatic activities, exploring nature, or simply spending time in the great outdoors, Taylorsville Lake State Park has got you covered. Found roughly halfway between Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky, this lakefront state park is home to a long list of activities and attractions. And best of all, its campground welcomes pets!

As you'd expect with its waterside location, the park is an extremely popular haunt for anyone who loves fishing or boating. The park's marina offers open and covered slips, gas, food, and fishing equipment, while boat rentals are also available if required. Anglers can target bass, bluegill, crappie and a variety of other species, but remember that a Kentucky Fishing License is required before you cast a line.

There's plenty to see and do on dry land as well, with Taylorsville Lake State Park also home to a 24-mile trail network. These multi-use trails are open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders, so feel free to explore at your own pace.

Along the way, you might even spot one of the many bird species commonly observed in the area. From sparrows and hummingbirds to great blue herons and bald eagles, there's plenty to keep any bird watching enthusiast on their toes.

The campground at Taylorsville Lake offers 44 full-service campsites for RVs, along with 15 primitive tent sites and 10 equestrian sites. Pets are more than welcome to stay with you in the campground, provided you can follow a few simple rules. As is the case in many state park campgrounds around the country, your pooch will need to be kept on a leash. You'll also need to show courtesy to other park visitors and clean up after your pet whenever required.

With these simple responsibilities taken care of, you, your dog, and your entire family can sit back, relax, and enjoy camping out in this beautiful part of Kentucky.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
