Set in the woodlands of Hoosier National Forest in southern Indiana, Tipsaw Lake Campground is a furrific destination for your next camping trip! You can bring your canine companion along to keep you company at Tipsaw Lake Campground, and together, you can enjoy the area’s beautiful natural features and pawesome outdoor activities.
Tipsaw Lake Campground is located right next to the scenic lake that gives it its name and features 27 campsites in a variety of styles. Standard sites can accommodate up to 8 people and cost $20 a night. There are also RV sites with electric hookups, group shelter sites, and more ranging from $30 to $43 per night. The sites are all well-maintained and come with picnic tables and fire pits.Â
While you’re staying at Tipsaw Lake Campground, you’ll have lots of ways to explore Hoosier National Forest. Tipsaw Lake is a convenient choice, with opportunities for boating, swimming, and fishing. It's unclear whether dogs are allowed in the water, so for your pup's safety, keep them on a leash while on the beach and pay close attention to posted signage.
Pre-fur hiking to exploring the water? You'd be barking mad to miss out on the area’s great trails! You'll find one near the lake called, unsurprisingly, Tipsaw Lake Trail. This 5.6-mile loop welcomes furry paws and provides scenic views of the lake and forest. (Note that this trail can become quite muddy and flooded after heavy rainfall. Also, keep an eye out for ticks.) Another great trail to trek is Mogan Ridge West. This loop trail is a bit more challenging at 10.5 miles and over 1,000 feet of elevation gain.
After a long day of exploring the beach and forest, you can enjoy a game of horseshoes or play catch with the kids in one of the open areas at the campground. Please remember to keep your dog leashed at all times during your stay at Tipsaw Lake, and please clean up after your pooch to keep this campground pet-friendly for years to come.
