Description

Sitting on a wooded peninsula on the shores of Lake Hartwell, Tugaloo State Park is paradise for outdoor recreation lovers. From swimming and boating to hiking and sports, there's plenty to keep every visitor to this Georgia State Park entertained. The best part of all, however, is that your dog can join in all the fun.

Pets are welcome in Tugaloo State Park, provided you're willing and able to abide by all relevant rules and regulations. This means you'll need to only take your dog in areas signposted as pet-friendly, and make sure your pooch is on a leash of six feet or shorter at all times. As always, show respect to other park users and clean up after your dog whenever necessary.

If you can do that, there's nothing to stop you and your dog having a grrreat time in this beautiful park. Covering more than 55,000 acres, Lake Hartwell provides an abundance of water-based activities for the whole family to enjoy. Anglers are drawn to the park all year round, particularly to target the plentifulĀ large-mouth bass population. Kayak and canoe rentals are also available, while the lake's wide-open spaces mean it's popular with water skiers. The park also features a swim beach when you want to take a refreshing dip, but your pooch won't be allowed to join you on the sand.

If you'd rather go exploring on foot, theĀ Sassafras and Muscadine hiking trails let you take the scenic route through oak, walnut, and cherry trees. Seven picnic shelters and one group shelter are available, while there's also a horseshoe pit, tennis court, and volleyball court.

The Tugaloo State Park campground is home to 105 tent, trailer,Ā and RV campsites, not to mention 11 tent-only walk-in campsites. Pets are permitted in the campground and can also stay the night in four of the park's 20 cottages.

Tugaloo State Park is a pawesome destination for anyone who loves aquatic activities or just enjoying time in the great outdoors. The next time you're planning a pet-friendly camping vacation in Georgia, make sure this beautiful park is on your shortlist!
