Description

If you and your buddy are looking for a quiet outdoor getaway less than an hour away from Atlanta, you’d be barking mad not to consider pitching your tent at Upper Stamp Creek Campground! Set right on the shore of gorgeous Lake Allatoona, the campground provides almost all the mod-cons a pup and their person could ask for. You’ll have access to electricity, water hookups, showers, and a dump station, though sewer hookups are not available.

Upper Stamp Creek is paw-fect for those seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life. There are just 20 sites, and many of them have lakeside views. Look up at night and you’re sure to see a spangled backdrop of stars, fireflies, and planes making their way to the airport. The campground also has two non-electric, tent-only sites for those looking to "ruff" it a bit (or maybe save some cash), and a few extra bucks buys you a site right on the water. There’s no entrance fee to the area, and sites start at $22. Upper Stamp Creek may be quiet, but it still pays to book early, particularly if you’ll need to stay at one of the campground’s accessible sites.

Each site comes with a picnic table, so you and your pooch are covered if all you want to do is sit back and take in the scenery. Don’t worry, though -- the area provides plenty of recreation opportunities for the more active among us! If casting a line is your idea of a good time, you’re in luck -- the lake is well-stocked with crappie and bream, and the bass fishing is legendary. While the immediate area doesn’t offer much to serious hound-dog hikers, the strikingly beautiful Red Top Mountain State Park is just a 16-minute drive away, and boasts over 15 miles of trails for you two to sniff and explore.

WiFi isn’t available at Upper Stamp Creek, and cellular coverage varies from network to network. Drinking water is available on-site. Remember to bring waste bags to clean up after your four-pawed pal, and have a furrific trip at Upper Stamp Creek Campground!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
