Make no bones about it, Waitsboro Campground is a furrific camping choice for your Fido-friendly Lake Cumberland outdoor adventure! You won’t need to sacrifice too many of your creature comforts during your stay, either -- the campground has access to showers, electricity, water and sewer hookups, and laundry facilities.
All this, and a seriously serene location to boot! Ideal for those seeking a little peace and quiet, the campground sits right on the shores of the lake, and most sites have waterside views. Sites are also well-shaded by the gorgeous hardwood trees that make this part of Kentucky famous, so there’s no need to worry about your buddy overheating in the hot summer sun! Careful, though -- the road up to Waitsboro is a little steep, so bigger RVs might have some trouble.
Waitsboro also offers several ways to stay. Aside from the 17 RV sites, there are 5 tent-only spots for those who don’t want to deal with the noise from their neighbors' vehicles. A group site is also available for larger gatherings. This small campground is pretty paw-pular, so it’s best to make your reservation early. There’s no entrance fee to the area, and sites start at $15.
You and your doggo definitely won’t be bored during your trip! If casting a line is your idea of a good time, you’re in luck -- Lake Cumberland is well-stocked with bass, bluegill, and crappie. Unfortunately, while the 2-mile nature trail makes for a great short walk, the area doesn’t have much to offer serious hound-dog hikers. There’s also a boat ramp nearby, but make sure your pupper is wearing a doggy life jacket before you head out on the water!
WiFi isn’t available at Waitsboro, but most cellular networks should receive decent coverage. Drinking water is available on-site, so just remember to bring the doggie waste bags for a pawesome time at Waitsboro Campground!
