You don't have to go far out of Orlando to fall in love with the true Florida. At Wekiwa Springs State Park, you and your pooch can come and see why people have been flocking here for centuries! You'll feel like you're trekking through the jungle with all of the birds, animals, and plants that live in this delicate ecosystem.
Pick from 60 different campsites located inside this park, many of which have electric and water hookups and some that offer sewer as well. Two of the campsites are wheelchair accessible and all of them provide a picnic table and a fire ring. There is a dump station on-site as well as drinkable water via faucets. If you're hoping to bring your horse along for the fun, you'll be pleased to know that there are corrals here and many of the trails are perfect for horseback riding.
To enter this state park, you'll have to purchase a ParkPass permit, which costs $6 per vehicle. Camping rates are $24 a night and you'll have to pay a one-time fee of $6.70 to reserve ahead of time.
The beautiful springs here make for the perfect place to swim or snorkel, and you'll be amazed at the creatures you'll meet in and around the water. Exploring the forest is another fun pastime and you'll have ample opportunities to do this whether you're hitting the 13+ miles of trails or going bushwhacking to try your luck at geocaching in the park.Â
Wherever you go, be sure to look out for posted signs stating where our furry friends should or shouldn't be. As a rule of thumb, any designated swim area or building is generally not open to woofers. The park also asks that you keep your doggo leashed throughout your stay and that you diligently clean up after them to keep this natural wonderland pristine.
If lush forest hideaways and crystal clear springs sound like your version of paradise, be sure to add Wekiwa Springs State Park to your must-visit list!
