Whiskey Flats RV Park has a well-earned reputation for friendly service, top-rated amenities, and tidy, landscaped grounds. Check in and be escorted to a pristine, concrete pad with youthful trees and hook-ups to electricity (30/50 amp), sewer, and water, plus access to cable TV and the internet. Sites are level with a picnic table provided.
Drivers wanting to stop and make use of their clean restrooms, hot showers, and laundry facilities are always welcome along with campers intending to stay awhile. The setting is open, with the magnificent Sierra Mountains in view, and well-planned gravel roads offer easy access to 60 pull-through sites.
Snowbirders on a mission to escape the winter head for RV parks where the sun shines the longest, and this part of the country boasts over 290 sunny days a year. It's also an ideal spot for road trippers traveling between Reno and Las Vegas, in need of a break.
Dogs are supremely welcome at the park, but out of courtesy to other campers are required to stay on a leash when outside of their motorhome. Pet guardians are asked to pick up their fur-babies' waste and supervise them at all times. The wide open spaces make great walks for your pooch, so there will be a ton of tail-wagging as woofers make new friends and sniff out Nevada desert scents. The temperatures can soar up into the 90’s when the summer comes, so your dog is likely to feel the heat. Keep them hydrated with plenty of fresh water and under the shade of an umbrella or tent.
A Safeway store is within walking distance of the campground, or you could take a five-minute drive to Hawthorne, a town that celebrates its patriotism with shops decorated in the colors of the American flag. The Hawthorne Ordnance Museum reveals a military history, while the Walker Lake Recreation Area showcases natural, landscape wonders and intrepid trails.
