Located within the Granite Basin Recreation Area, Yavapai Campground stands at an elevation of 5,600 feet. It is just 7 miles from downtown Prescott, Arizona. From its moderate weather to cool ponderosa pine forest, the Basin lends this dog-friendly campground many pleasant features for campers. You can choose from 21 campsites, one of which is handicap-accessible.
Of the campsites, 19 of them single-occupancy and two are double-occupancy. The campsites are big enough for parking most RVs and trailers not more than 40 feet long. Remember that RV hookups are not provided and there is a 14-day stay limit. Every site has a steel fire ring, picnic table, and a tent pad. Four sites have a pedestal fire grill. All site driveways are back-in with asphalt surfaces, with some can allow an RV, trailer, or tow vehicle. Dump stations are not available at the campground.
You can enjoy numerous activities at Yavapai Campground from fishing and canoeing to hiking and horseback riding. See on which ones you can include Fido. The Granite Mountain Wilderness Area lies to the northwest. There are numerous loop and connector trails in the recreation area that connect to trails outside the area. Trails are well marked and most of them allow multiple modes of travel. The campground was built to be integrated with the natural setting of various vegetative species and granite rock ridges. The variety of grasses and shrubs help create a nice ambiance. There is nothing like smelling pine on your morning walks! You and your doggo will love this remote, lovely, and clean campground. Remember to clean up after Fido to help keep the place clean.
The camp host is generally appreciated for keeping the area and bathrooms clean. Visitors appreciate not seeing trash on their dog walks. Just be careful to keep your dog from stepping into the sap that sometimes can drip from a pine tree. Overall, it's a great place to camp with Fido.
