72nd Street Dog Run (at Riverside Park)

For leash-free fun in the Upper West Side, bring your four-legged pal to the 72nd Street Dog Run! One of five off-leash dog parks in Riverside Park, this pawsome canine hangout can be accessed via the southernmost entrance of the park—you and Fido will see it as soon as you enter!

The 72nd Street Dog Run comprises two separate areas for large and small dogs, both of which offer plenty of shade and seating for the dog parents. Let your canine companion run loose and get all the wiggles out in this secure, fenced-in pooch park, but make sure to always keep an eye on them and remind them to mind their manners if needed. While there is no agility equipment installed inside the dog park, ample space for running around and plenty of furry playmates should help tire out your energetic pup. 

Be sure to offer your pup water regularly so they don't get too hot and thirsty, especially on warm days. A hose is available to fill water bowls, as well as to rinse off dogs who have become dusty from playing on the gravel surface. And as always, stoop and scoop if your charge makes a mess! You'll find plastic bags in the dispenser in the large dog area behind the welcome sign. Since the dog park is entirely maintained by volunteers, visitors are encouraged to bring additional bags to replenish the supply. 

Remember, all doggos must be licensed and vaccinated before using the 72nd Street Dog Run. If your pooch still has leftover energy after spending some time here, take them for a scenic stroll on the Hudson River Greenway in the main park. Don't furget to clip their leash back on before they exit the off-leash dog area!
