Akron Dog Park, a park founded and maintained by the efforts of BARC (Better Akron Recreation for Canines), finds its home in Akron, Ohio. This popular dog playground came into inception with donated funds and land from the City of Akron. Funded entirely by donations in later years, BARC now pays a monthly rental fee for continued use of the property.
With this in mind, donations are gratefully accepted and earmarked towards the cost of rental fees, ongoing maintenance costs, and future park improvements. This lovely dog play haven offers two fully fenced play spaces that are suitable for off-leash exercise and appropriate socialization. To ensure small, senior, and shy dogs have a play area best suited to their specific needs, one of the runs has been set aside for their use.
Akron Dog Park is committed to providing a secure play area where dogs can engage in off-leash play. However, park officials acknowledge that safety measures must be in place for the protection of all dogs enjoying the play spaces. With this in mind, owners must assist park officials by providing active supervision and by keeping a leash with them at all times. In accordance with Ohio state law, dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the premises as well as in all public places.
Akron Dog Park, a public dog play haven, is open to all people and their pooches at no cost. The dog runs are complete with many great features sure to enrich Fido's day at the park. Among the on-site amenities are double-gated entries to the play areas, grass and gravel-lined fields, agility and other play equipment, drinking water, benches in well-shaded areas, and poop bags. The onus for all pet waste removal lies with each owner.
It is unknown if bathrooms are housed on the grounds. Akron Dog Park has instituted a few rules visitors to this dog playground must observe. Food and alcohol are strictly prohibited on the grounds, and use of cigarettes is limited to outside the fenced enclosures. Prong, choke, and pinch collars are also forbidden. Proof of vaccinations and a city dog license are highly recommended. For a great day at a fun Ohio park, plan a visit to Akron Dog Park!
