Description

The City of Eugene, Oregon, home of the University of Oregon, wants you to get outside! This lovely town, in the heart of the State of Oregon, is surrounded by wide, open spaces, and Oregonians pride themselves on going outside no matter what the weather looks like. It can get pretty dreary in Oregon in the winter, so this can be a big commitment for everyone.

Although Eugene is the second largest city in Oregon, it is not particularly large, at less than 150,000 people. Even though there is already plenty of elbow room, the city has created a number of parks. One of the largest is the Amazon Park. The Amazon Park is absolutely huge, considering that it's in an urban setting. At over 99 acres, it's got just about everything you could ask for in a park.

This awesome park has got miles and miles of trails, both paved and unpaved. It has open fields for soccer, a sand volleyball court, and a tennis court. It has a recreation center, a skatepark, and a performance area. It also has a dog park. Quite a nice one, actually. The Amazon Dog Park is not huge per se, but it is still very nicely sized, at over three acres.

When you factor in the small dog section of the park, which is over half an acre, you get a very agreeable place for your puppy indeed. The dog park, like the rest of the main park (and, to be frank, many other outdoor places in Oregon) is set up to make it as convenient and enjoyable as possible. There are several picnic tables and benches, and there are rain shelters.

There are also lots of poop bags and garbage cans throughout the Amazon Dog Park. The park also has water fountains for both people and puppies. Like the main park, the Amazon Dog park has trails through it. These trails are graveled rather than paved, and the city regularly maintains them, especially in the winter months, as it can get quite muddy due to rain.

When the trails of both sections of the parks cross each other, which the city calls "pedestrian nodes" there are signposts and benches for dog people to talk and network. Just outside the Amazon Dog Park's gates is a large message board for dog people to exchange messages and advertise services. There is also an area to wash off any mud from your dog. This is just a great dog lover's park for sure.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
