The Anamax Dog Park is a great place to exercise a dog off-leash in Sahuarita, Arizona. The dog park is an area of the Anamax Park and Recreation Center which has been fenced in with shoulder-high chain mesh to provide a safe environment for pups to run free and play with their canine buddies. There are plenty of parking spaces both by the recreation center and close to the dog park.
This dog park in Sahuarita is popular with owners of both large and small breeds as it has separate sections for each. If a handler has dogs of different sizes, both are allowed in the large dog area, but large dogs cannot be taken into the small dog zone, and no-one can exercise more than two pups at once.
The Anamax Off-Leash Dog Park is fee-free, but dogs are required to have fulfilled their full cycle of vaccinations which, sadly, means young puppies under four months are not eligible to enter. Skateboarding is not permitted in the off-leash area either by humans or talented dogs.
Both sides of the dog park have a fair covering of natural grass which is kind to pet's paws when they're chasing after balls. There's no shade from the sun for dogs, but there is a shelter installation for pet owners to stand under should it rain. The dog park also has a few benches. Owners are welcome to take their own chairs as long as they take them with them when leaving the park.
Standard poop scoop rules apply in this off-leash dog area, and owners are obliged to quickly remove any fecal matter deposited by their dogs. The Sahuarita authorities do provide poop bags and ask if owners do supply their own, then they should be of the recyclable and disposable kind rather than plastic grocery bags as they are more environmentally friendly.
