For a relaxing weekend by the water, check out Black Sandy State Park on Hauser Lake! One of the few public parks on the reservoir's shores, this 43-acre site is a very pawpular destination for boating, water skiing, fishing, and other water activities. The best part is, four-legged members of the family are welcome to tag along, so hop into the car with Fido and head on over to Black Sandy State Park!
Feel the breeze in your hair as you and your pooch enjoy a leisurely cruise along the lake. You'll find the boat ramp between the reservable electric campsites. Make sure your pup's life jacket is on before you set off! Farther up past the boat slips is a small swimming area where water-loving doggos can play fetch in the lake and pawfect their doggie paddle.
If your pupper would rather stay on land, take them for a stroll on the Black Sandy Trail across the road from the campground. Spanning 1 mile, this path will take you and Fido up to an overlook where you'll be treated to pawsome views of the lake and mountains. Don't forget to bring water and pick-up bags when you hit the trail!
For overnighters, Black Sandy offers RV and tent camping by the lake. The campground includes toilets, fire rings, picnic tables, drinking water, trash cans, and a dump station. Showers, laundry, groceries, and public telephone are available adjacent to the park. Campers say that the sites are close together, so make sure your pooch doesn't disturb the neighbors and stays quiet from 10 PM to 7 AM.
Wherever you go in the park, always keep Fido on a leash and clean up after them. Note that there is a daily entrance fee of $6 per vehicle for out-of-state guests.
Enjoy some R&R with your canine pal at Black Sandy State Park!
