An off-leash dog area located in Wilmington, Delaware, Brandywine Park is near Brandywine Hundred Library, which has wireless internet and a small cafe. The park has an area designated just for dogs where Spike is free to roam, play, and run off his leash. It is separated into two areas; one for small dogs and another for large dogs.Â
Care must be taken for there are no fences, you would not want your dog wandering off and getting lost, or worse, getting hit by a passing vehicle. There is a canal on one side and a river on the other, you can revel in a stroll or a jog along the river with your four-legged best friend, as well as other activities such as a picnic lunch while enjoying the views of the picturesque place that runs along both sides of the Brandywine River.Â
Benches are overlooking the river, so you can spend some time there just basking in Mother Nature’s beauty, relaxing while listening to the surroundings beautiful sounds. You can find the Baynard Stadium, Brandywine Zoo, and the Josephine Fountain in the park.Â
Locals think it is a great place, but it can be challenging to find parking close by so you might want to leave your car at home, if possible. Although there are washrooms, people have complained of non-flushing toilets.The park provides dog poop bags, but it has run out many times so do not take the chance and bring your bags so that you can clean up after your dog.Â
The park is tidy, and everyone is urged to keep it that way. There buffer zone has a drinking fountain, but there have been many occasions when it did not work so follow other park users and bring water for yourself that you can also share with your pooch.
