This dog park is located within Charles E. Memorial Park, which features over 100 acres of walking trails, pavilions, playgrounds, and beautiful open spaces. Fido must be on a leash when walking around the rest of the park, but once you enter the double-gated entry into the dog park, he can go off leash.Â
The dog park features grassy areas with some trees for shade, as well as a water fountain for the warmer days. If you are going to the park in the colder months, bring Fido his own water as the water fountain may be turned off. You can get official notices from the park's website, which also will update you if the park is closing due to flooding or storms.Â
And even though the park has a lot of space for Fido to run around on, please be sure to pick up after him. You can sit on one of several benches and keep an eye on him as you chat with other owners. The park provides doggie poop bags so you can conveniently clean up after your dog. There are garbage pails provided throughout the park.Â
The park is at its busiest around 1 PM to 3 PM, so if your pup is new to dog parks, you should take him at a slower time. Be sure your dog is vaccinated and neutered or spayed before you take him to the park and always monitor your dog for behavior. Signs posted remind you that you are responsible for your dog's behavior, so be mindful of his interactions with other pups.Â
