The area itself is not fenced, so any canine that likes to run away is going to be a big issue here, as you are in the middle of town. This is also going to be an issue for dogs that like to run around aimlessly or are easily distracted. It is easy for a canine to be having fun and run right out into the street while they are distracted.
Because there is no fence to keep your dog in, you should not take him off his leash here unless your dog is well trained and responds immediately to your voice commands. As long as they remain in the park, the park is not large enough for them to end up out of sight.
This park is also a comingled area. This means large dogs and small dogs are not separated. This puts the little dogs at an extraordinary risk, and they rely on the fact that any large dog who comes to the park has either been socialized with small canines in the past or is exceptionally well trained. Even playful aggression from a large dog could seriously injure or harm something along the lines of a purse dog.
Overall, this park makes for a great place to bring your canine and kill a few hours of the day. Water is available to the public at this park in the form of water fountains so be sure to bring a dog bowl with you. There are also public restrooms available as well as doggie bags and trash cans to clean up after your canine.
